Abrahamsyah (Indonesia) the Champion !
14th ASM @ Indonesia (Batam) 2024 presented by Integra Petrochemicals
Batam Island CC - Sun 28 to Wed 31 Jan
The 14th ASM @ Batam 2024 treated players and spectators alike to a most exciting 3 way play off at the Batam Island CC between Indonesia's Jamel Ondo and Abraham Shah along with Rashid Ismail from Malaysia who all carded 218 over the 3 day event.
The 3 way play off was held on the 10th, 11th and 18th at BICC.. and pars were returned by all 3 on the 10th..
The 11th saw Rasid's drive catch the left side bunker complex.. causing him to eventually card a 7.. while the Indonesian's both had pars..
The 18th saw Abraham Shah hook his ball left just short of the water hazard, with no clear line of sight to the green.. Rashid sent a great long drive down the middle and Jamel found himself in trouble well inside the wooded area on the right..
Jamel's 2nd shot was a great escape from the woods but unfortunately caught the left green side bunker from which he chipped out and had an unlucky 2 putt for bogey as his 1st putt rimmed the hole..
Rashid was on in regulation and 2 putted for his par.. unperturbed Abraham girded his loins and produced an amazing and heroic 2nd shot from his wayward drive to land on the apron just short of the 18th green from where he deftly chipped to almost make a birdy.. leaving himself a tap in par to win the 14th ASM Batam...
Abraham won the 6th ASM Batam 2014 and winning the 14th ASM Batam 2024 makes it his 2nd victory on the AST
